Ridiculously good\u2014messy, indulgent, and absolutely worth the hype.<\/li>\n<li data-node-id=\"1.2\">The sauces and espresso bar make this a new West Village must-stop for breakfast lovers and bagel obsessives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr data-node-id=\"2\" class=\"css-18pb4rg emevuu60\"\/>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"3\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">There are very few things in life where I actively count down the minutes: Beyonc\u00e9 album drops, Trader Joe\u2019s holiday aisle resets, and\u2014apparently\u2014the NYC opening of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moonrisebagels.com\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.moonrisebagels.com\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Moonrise Bagels.\" data-node-id=\"3.3\" class=\"body-link css-1i7jlb0 emevuu60\">Moonrise Bagels.<\/a> Ever since I tried the bakery\u2019s stuffed bagels at BagelFest earlier this year, I\u2019ve been fully feral for them. I\u2019ve described them to friends like I\u2019m personally getting paid by the brand. I\u2019ve shown photos like they\u2019re my children. Well, the era is over. The doors are officially open in the West Village, and Moonrise has entered the chat.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"a-quick-origin-story-because-its-actually-cute\" data-node-id=\"4\" class=\"body-h2 css-guqo8m emevuu60\">A Quick Origin Story (Because It\u2019s Actually Cute)<\/h2>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"5\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Moonrise is the brainchild of husband-and-wife duo Jeremy and Ali Rhodes, who accidentally stumbled into bagel stardom during the pandemic. They stuffed a pizza into a bagel (as one does), realized the idea was genius, and the rest is history. They now have three locations upstate and just opened their first NYC shop at <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/6JZAWTfzUbhaNBbm8\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/6JZAWTfzUbhaNBbm8\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"58 West 8th Street\" data-node-id=\"5.1\" class=\"body-link css-1i7jlb0 emevuu60\">58 West 8th Street<\/a>, a move that feels destined. A stuffed bagel belongs in Manhattan. It\u2019s chaotic, indulgent, and a little impractical. It has that \u201cthis used to be a neighborhood bookstore in 1998\u201d energy. There\u2019s a full espresso bar with every milk and syrup option, which immediately shot this place into the \u201cI could actually come here every day\u201d category.<\/p>\n<section data-embed=\"watch-next\" data-lazy-id=\"P0-17\" data-node-id=\"9\" class=\"embed\"\/>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"10\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">I wasn\u2019t expecting coffee to be a standout moment, but my vanilla oat latte was legitimately on par with the Big Coffee Girls\u2122 of the city. For my preview visit, I tried:<\/p>\n<ul data-node-id=\"14\" class=\"css-kw9lqy emevuu60\">\n<li data-node-id=\"14.0\">Bacon Egg &amp; Cheese Bagel (stuffed inside a plain bagel)<\/li>\n<li data-node-id=\"14.1\">Buffalo Chicken Bagel (stuffed inside an everything bagel)<\/li>\n<li data-node-id=\"14.2\">All three sauces: Mooney Sauce, Chili, and Dill Ranch<\/li>\n<li data-node-id=\"14.3\">Iced Vanilla Oat Latte<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"the-bacon-egg--cheese\" data-node-id=\"15\" class=\"body-h2 css-guqo8m emevuu60\">The Bacon Egg &amp; Cheese<\/h2>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"16\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">I was honestly unwell after discovering how good this was. Imagine the best possible BEC you can get at a solid NYC deli\u2014smoky bacon, fluffy eggs, melty cheese\u2014but <em data-node-id=\"16.3\">inside<\/em> the dough of a bagel. It\u2019s like a bagel and a breakfast sandwich eloped in Vegas and had a beautiful carb-rich baby. It\u2019s decadent, messy, and the total opposite of a first-date food. It\u2019s perfect.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"the-buffalo-chicken-bagel\" data-node-id=\"17\" class=\"body-h2 css-guqo8m emevuu60\">The Buffalo Chicken Bagel<\/h2>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"18\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">This is the one I fell in love with at BagelFest, and the full-sized version did not disappoint. The buffalo flavor is bold without being painful, and the chicken is tender, not dry. The everything bagel adds just the right amount of salt and crunch. Dipping this into the house-made dill ranch was a life-changing experience. It\u2019s the kind of thing you finish eating and immediately start planning when you\u2019ll eat it again. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"the-sauces\" data-node-id=\"19\" class=\"body-h2 css-guqo8m emevuu60\">The Sauces<\/h2>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"20\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">These deserve their own paragraph.<\/p>\n<ul data-node-id=\"21\" class=\"css-kw9lqy emevuu60\">\n<li data-node-id=\"21.0\">Mooney Sauce: Horseradish and dill vibes. You will need napkins, both hands, and maybe a little bit of privacy. I would not recommend eating this on the subway unless you want to be perceived. But that\u2019s part of the joy of it.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"final-thoughts\" data-node-id=\"25\" class=\"body-h2 css-guqo8m emevuu60\">Final Thoughts<\/h2>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"26\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Moonrise Bagels entering NYC feels like a win for the city\u2019s bagel culture. And it\u2019s run by people who clearly care about their craft. I\u2019ll absolutely be back, most likely very often, and I will be dragging every friend I know with me.
