The lawsuit, which was brought by a California resident who purchased the brand\u2019s nonfat plain Greek yogurt in 2023, alleges that the company has misled consumers through false advertising. According to the suit, third-party testing found man-made plastic chemicals in the brand\u2019s products, while the company advertises its yogurt as containing \u201conly natural ingredients.\u201d <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"3\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">The testing, conducted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plasticlist.org\/report\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.plasticlist.org\/report\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"PlasticList\" data-node-id=\"3.1\" class=\"body-link css-1i7jlb0 emevuu60\">PlasticList<\/a>, found that Chobani yogurt contained four types of phthalates\u2014a chemical used in plastics known to have adverse health effects, including negative impacts on reproductive health, disruption of the endocrine system, and even the potential to cause cancer. The testing suggests that the presence of these chemicals is likely due to the yogurt\u2019s plastic containers, which leach into the product over time. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"4\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">The plaintiff claims she would not have purchased the yogurt if she had known it contained phthalates. The lawsuit seeks to represent all U.S. residents who have purchased either Chobani nonfat plain Greek yogurt or Chobani whole milk plain Greek yogurt, along with similar products, within the statute of limitations.
