Trader Joe’s has many fan-favorite products adorning its shelves. From those dark chocolate peanut butter cups to that Everything But the Bagel smoked salmon, there are tons of delicious food products that you can only snag at the grocery chain. In particular, TJ’s is known for its incredible selection of cheeses (Unexpected Cheddar has a permanent spot in my fridge), which is what makes this latest recall such a bummer.

On Friday, June 20, Trader Joe’s issued a news release regarding its Face Rock Creamery’s Vampire Slayer Cheese Curds. Unfortunately, the cheese has been recalled due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

Consuming food that’s been contaminated with listeria can be very serious, causing infections that can be potentially deadly. The silver lining is that the contaminated product was not distributed widely—the affected cheese curds were only sold in Northern California and Northern Nevada.

Those in the vicinity should check their refrigerators to ensure that they don’t have the contaminated product, which has a use-by date of August 29, 2025. The grocery store urges shoppers to discard the product or return it to your neighborhood Trader Joe’s for a full refund.
