Lay’s has finally announced the winner of its annual “Do Us A Flavor” chip contest. After narrowing down the competition to just three finalists—Valentina & Lime, Bacon Grilled Cheese, and Korean-Style Fried Chicken—Lay’s created all three flavors, which were available on store shelves for a limited time (and can still be found if you hurry!). The public voted for their favorite of the bunch and have hailed the winner…Bacon Grilled Cheese.
The winning flavor, which Paula George of Sapulpa, Oklahoma submitted, is joining its predecessors in the “Do Us A Flavor” winners hall of fame, which includes other creative and mouthwatering flavors like Cheesy Garlic Bread, Fried Green Tomato, and Southern Biscuits & Gravy.
For her efforts, George will receive a $1 million prize, along with infamy for her imagination. George beat out over 700,000 other chip flavor submissions, drawing inspiration from her late father’s bacon grilled cheese recipe, bringing bold, classic flavors to a beloved chip.
Lay’s fans chimed in with their own opinions about the three finalists, with many commenters on Lay’s social media expressing their love for the bacon grilled cheese flavor. “Can’t wait to get these. I’m voting for the 🥓 grilled 🧀 but i 😍would love them all,” wrote one fan.
“Bacon grilled cheese is my favorite,” commented another. However, not all commenters seemed to be fans of the finalists, with one person proclaiming, “These flavors were so boring.” Guess you can’t please everyone.
