Whether it’s a discontinued item, recipe change, or new dessert, there always seems to be news coming out of Costco’s bakery. But this time, you don’t have to bid farewell to a favorite (RIP jumbo muffins). Costco just dropped a new bakery item: Butter Sugar Palmiers.

The French pastry is made with flour, puff pastry, and sugar. Palmiers, often called elephant ears, also go by different names around the world. In Mexico they’re called orejas.

Laura Lamb of @costcohotfinds, shared a video of the new find on Instagram and it’s already gained a lot of positive reactions.

“Looks delicious!! Definitely a must try!!” wrote one Instagram user.

“I totally bought those yesterday,” wrote another.

In the video, Lamb says palmiers are her “favorite pastry of all time.” While she says they’re good with coffee or tea, she’s seen topping hers with ice cream and strawberries.

Redditers also noticed the new bakery item and shared their thoughts in a thread.

“Please let my store have these,” commented a Reddit user. “A favorite treat from my childhood.”

“These are freaking amazing!!! Can’t wait to eat more tomorrow!” wrote another.

If you haven’t gotten your hands on these yet, palmiers are eay to make at home. Check out our recipes for classic palmier cookies or strawberry palmiers with jam and white chocolate.
