Friend, we hate to break it to you, and it hurts for us to say, but it looks like the McDonald’s Dollar Menu isn’t coming back.

If you’re like us then you’ve probably let your Dollar Menu delusion allow you to believe that one day you’ll once again be able to order a $1 McChicken. Alas, our dollar dreams were dashed this week when a former McDonald’s corporate chef spilled that the restaurant’s Dollar Menu is likely never coming back.

“They’re not bringing back the Dollar Menu, which is what a lot of people want. Now, inflation and all the other things involved with that is a reason why there are not a lot of things that are a dollar. Things cost a lot more,” said Chef Mike Haracz, a former Manager of Culinary Innovation at McDonald’s, on TikTok.

He went on to explain that McDonald’s would rather optimize its more premium offerings and increase the check of people ordering food then focus on selling $1 menu items.

As if McDonald’s ditching its Dollar Menu wasn’t already bad news enough, Chef Haracz informed viewers that the future of McDonald’s newly-announced McValue menu also looks bleak. Launching January 7, the McValue menu will feature the new Buy One, Add One for $1 offer and other deals, but he doesn’t think it will last long.

“I don’t think that this is gonna bring people back because this is not what the people have been asking for,” he revealed.

At least we’ll always have the Dollar Store. For now…
