Chick-fil-A flipped the fast food world on its head when the chain revealed it would soon be starting its own streaming service. And now, we finally have all the details on the new channel, which will be called Chick-fil-A Play.
AdWeek reports that Chick-fil-A Play is more than just a streaming service. The family-friendly app will feature original animated shows, scripted podcasts, games, e-books and interactive stories, video-based recipes, and kid-friendly crafts.
“As these pieces were coming to life, we saw a need for a digital space to deliver the entertainment and activities our guests were asking us for via a platform that a majority of families use and have access to,” Dustin Britt, executive director of brand strategy for Chick-fil-A, told AdWeek. “We started designing the app as a place where parents and kids could connect through the content, with everything on the app intentionally designed to be listened to, watched, and played together.”
Chick-fil-A Play has been in the works for over two years, and fans will finally get a chance to explore the app when it launches on November 18. In the meantime, Chick-fil-A released a trailer for Legends of Evergreen Hills, a new animated series that will premiere on the app next month.
Given the vast assortment of streaming apps available to consumers, some people have doubts about Chick-fil-A Play.
“Odd decision from a ‘family brand’ like @ChickfilA to make streaming and screens even more common during family meal time which can be the most important time of the day,” one person pointed out.
There was also this pressing question on many people’s minds: “But does it stream on Sundays?”
Chick-fil-A says the app will be available for free on November 18, and the company does not plan to charge for it.
