The best thing about traveling is trying new food. And while your top priority is probably going to be the local fare, you might be surprised to find out that many fast food chains have different menu items outside the U.S. Some are inspired by local dishes and use regional ingredients that aren’t as common in the States. Here are some of the dishes and drinks you can find at your favorite fast food spots around the world.

France is known for its pastries, so, of course, the McDonald’s locations have a pretty large selection of desserts. Amongst the croissants, macarons, cheesecake, and more, there’s The McChocoNuts, which is made to order. A brioche bun is topped with a melting choconuts-flavored disc, slivers of peanuts, and a choconuts topping.

No, it’s not mint Oreo; it’s matcha.

Butter Chicken Tacos and Paneer Makhni Tacos: Taco Bell India

Taco Bell India has a large selection of items with a regional influences and ingredients. Butter Chicken Tacos take inspiration from butter chicken, or murgh makhani. The Paneer Makhni Tacos feature paneer, a soft cheese that’s often used in Indian cooking.

Of course, McDonald’s in Canada has poutine. Just like the original, the McDonald’s version is a bowl of fries and cheese curds topped with gravy.

Lucuma Crème Frappuccino: Starbucks Peru

Lucuma is a fruit native to Peru, where it’s often used in juices and desserts like ice cream. The yellow-hued Lucuma Crème Frappuccino is topped whipped cream.

Tom Yum: Burger King Thailand

Burger Kings in Thailand have a variety of chicken and rice dishes on the menu, including Tom Yum Chicken with Rice. There’s also Spicy Chicken with Jaew Sauce and Gai Klua Kruea with Sticky Rice.

Taro and Corn Pie: Burger King Thailand

In addition to Iced Thai Tea and Thai Tea Milkshakes, Burger King’s dessert menu has a handheld apple pie and a taro with corn pie, which has a purple filling due to the taro.

This Frappuccino sounds super refreshing on a hot day. Yogurt and pineapple are blended with coconut sauce and ice.
