Old will always be cool, which means you might be reminiscing about those old jeans you should have held onto or your favorite after-school snacks that no longer exist. To indulge our nostalgia, we’ve rounded up some of the most popular food and drink items that are no longer in production. While you can still find some of these on eBay, my guess is they might be a little stale. If these list has you in your feels, check out these nostalgic ’80s and ’90s recipes that you can recreate at home
Klondike Choco Taco
Don’t @ me, but the Choco Taco was one of the only things I’ve eaten at Taco Bell. Sadly, it was discontinued by Klondike in 2022. It’s so iconic, brands have been crafting treats reminiscent of the OG. Earlier this year, Cold Stone launched its limited-edition Waffle Ice Cream Taco. And over the summer, Taco Bell teamed up with Salt & Straw to produce a new version. I don’t know about you, but it sounds like they should just bring back the original.
Taco Bell Caramel Apple Empanada
Speaking of Taco Bell, the fast food chain has several discontinued menu items. But another dessert item that’s no longer on the menu is the Caramel Apple Empanada. You can, however, still get your hands on Cinnamon Twists.
Kudos Bars
Kudos bars were essentially candy bars disguised as granola bars. They were loaded with chocolate and candy. But you can still make our copycat Kudos Bars.
Dannon Sprinkl’ins Yogurt
How do you make yogurt fun for kids? Add sprinkles, of course. Each container of Dannon Sprinkl’ins had a package of sprinkles on top that you’d dump in.
Fruitopia Juice
If anything screams nostalgia, it’s the Fruitopia typeface. This was a vending machine favorite for me. Who doesn’t want a bottle of Strawberry Passion Awareness or Citrus Consciousness? You can still find some Fruitopia flavors in Canada.
McDonald’s Snack Wrap
Is there a discontinued McDonald’s menu item that’s more coveted than the Snack Wrap? There have been rumors that it’s supposedly returning to menus. When? We’re not so sure.
Cinnamon Tic Tacs
In a 2020 Facebook post, Tic Tac commented that it “periodically” discontinues flavors in order to offer innovative flavors. But, there’s still no sign of Cinnamon Tic Tacs returning.
Yelloh (Schwan’s Home Delivery)
Yelloh (formerly Schwan’s Home Delivery) isn’t shuttered quite yet, but it is closing in November. The company was well-known for its frozen food products like ice cream and pizza, along with the iconic yellow delivery truck. The last day to purchase food from Yelloh trucks is November 8.
Jell-O Pudding Pops
Pudding? In a popsicle? Sold. Unfortunately, pudding pops were discontinued around 2010, according to Sporked.
Tab Soda
Coca-Cola’s Tab was a a popular diet soda with a huge following. It launched in 1963 and was discontinued in 2020. In August 2021, a Change.org petition was started to convince Coca-Cola to bring the soda back. It currently has over 7,500 signatures.
McDonaldland Cookies
If you want these cookies in the shape of McDonaldland characters, you might have to travel to Australia, where they still appear to be on dessert menus.
Philadelphia Cream Cheese Snack Bars
Cheesecake on-the-go? What could be better. There’s even a Change.org petition to bring them back, and it has over 50,000 signatures.
Doritos 3D
Instead of the iconic flat chip, Doritos 3D were triangular puffs, similar to Bugles. They were discontinued in the early 2000s, but according to Tasting Table, an updated version Doritos 3D Crunch, returned to shelves in 2020. It’s unclear if they’re still in production, or if they were a limited-time offering.
Sierra Mist
PepsoCo’s Sierra Mist had a long run. Around since 1999, the citrusy soda has changed its formulation and rebranded, but it was discontinued in 2023 and replaced by another lemon lime soda called Starry. We compared both, and while similar, they’re not the same. Sierra Mist is made with cane sugar, while Starry has high fructose corn syrup.
Butterfinger BB’s
Essentially mini bite-sized balls of the Butterfinger candy bar, BB’s were an easy-to-eat snack. Unfortunately, according to Tasting Table, they were discontinued in 2006.
Sour Patch Cherry
Sadly, these sweet and sour cherry candies have been discontinued in the U.S.
