It’s her party and she’ll cry if she wants to—and that’s exactly what six-year-old Leighton did after catching a glimpse at her now-viral unicorn birthday cake. According to her mom, Leighton was left “heartbroken” and her entire birthday was ruined because of the “ugly” cake.
The entire ordeal was hilariously detailed by cake decorator Gregory Mason (@trashyqweenz) on TikTok. In his video, Gregory went on to explain that the mom asked him to redo the cake and make it more kid-friendly. She specifically wanted him to ax the cursive, fix the border that “looked like toothpaste,” and adjust the color of the frosting.
“She literally says, ‘You have over a million followers and can’t decorate a simple unicorn cake?'” he revealed.

In addition to redoing the cake, Gregory explained that he went out of his way to use the natural food colors the mom provided when no other bakers would.
Given that the first cake looked perfectly fine, the video of the sweet fiasco has people on TikTok riled up in the comments. And a number of people admitted that it likely wasn’t the six-year-old that didn’t like the cake, but her mom.
“As a fellow cake decorator, it’s almost NEVER the kid that doesn’t like a cake,” one person wrote.
Gregory did offer a juicy update on the situation, sharing that the woman wanted both the cake and a refund. He also stressed that his initial video shouldn’t sway anyone from approaching their cake designer/baker if they have a valid problem with their cake.
