Fed up with swiping left? Are you one failed date away from embracing a life of solitude? Well, before you give up on love, have you tried pineapples? And no, pineapples isn’t some trendy new dating app. Believe it or not, the deliciously tart fruit is helping some folks overseas find companionship.

Instagram user Ana G. (@_anagildersleeve), who declared that “the pineapple is changing the dating game in Spain,” recently offered a detailed breakdown on how exactly people in the country are using grocery shopping to find love (and even hookups).

Between 7 and 8 P.M. at Mercadona, a supermarket chain based in Spain, single people put their pineapples upside down in their shopping carts if they’re looking for love. They then head to the wine aisle and if the person sees someone they’re interested in and their pineapple is also upside down, they crash into their cart.

Not quite looking for love? Don’t fret, there’s a produce option for you too! If you happen to be looking for a one night stand (no judgement here), you can pick up a head of lettuce.

“People buy lettuce because it goes bad quickly,” Ana G. revealed.

Similarly, if you’re in search of a long term relationship, you can put lentils in your cart “because lentils last forever in your pantry.” Adorbs.

In the comments to Ana G.’s post, some users did warn that pineapples might not be the best pick for expressing any romantic interest if you’re here in the states.

“Pineapples in the US is for swingers!” one person hilariously pointed out.

Who knew produce and legumes could be so spicy?
