Months after Gordon Ramsay shocked fans by sharing a video of the injuries he sustained during a cycling accident, he’s now opening up about the chilling details of the crash. Most frightening of all is the fact that what caused the accident could happen to just about anyone.
While speaking with Men’s Health UK, Ramsay revealed that it was a crater-like pothole that caused the accident. The Food Stars host was cruising downhill when his front wheel hit the pothole and he was whipped into the air.
Despite being flung from his bike, Ramsay attempted to continue his ride, but noticed that his helmet was split in half. He was also bleeding and experiencing blurry vision.
“I honestly thought I was going to pass out,” he told Men’s Health UK.
Although he didn’t break any bones during the accident, Ramsay did suffer significant swelling as the result of his injuries. Fortunately for the chef, he had the help of his children and his assistant, Justin Mandel, while recovering.
“I couldn’t even put my f-ing socks and pants on. Justin, he used to dress me in the morning. I felt like a f-ing 95-year-old man. Asking a 30-year-old kid to put my f-ing underpants on was embarrassing,” he revealed.
It was in June of this year when a visibly shaken Ramsay informed fans via video that he had been in a cycling accident. After posting the video on Instagram, he received immense support from fans who showered the celebrity chef with words of kindness. In total, Ramsay’s post received over 25,000 comments from concerned followers.
